Our cadets are embarking on an epic 8-week virtual journey along Hadrian's Wall, working in Roman-themed patrols to complete walking and running challenges. This patrol-based competition promotes teamwork, leadership, and personal discipline while raising funds for our squadron.

Welcome to the website of 2493 (Alsager) Squadron, this is a uniformed youth organisation sponsored by the Royal Air Force. We aim to provide cadets with skills, opportunities and experiences that will make them well-rounded individuals for the future.
What makes us different?
We are one of the few squadrons within Greater Manchester Wing (formerly Staffordshire Wing) that have a Squadron band. Throughout the year, the band take part in numerous parades including the annual Remembrance Parade, Battle of Britain commemorations, local Carnival, and regular community events.
As a Squadron, we recognise the vast amount of skills young people have and we are dedicated to helping the cadets use their skills and show how talented they are. The Squadron band is an opportunity every cadet can access when they join the Squadron and every cadet can choose from the vast amount of instruments we have to offer.
What activities do we offer?
The training plan for the year is usually packed with lots of activities which the cadets can take part in. They include:
- Flying and gliding experiences
- Drone operations and pilot training
- Space and cyber activities
- Sports (individual and team sports)
- Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme
- Adventure training (rock climbing, abseiling, canoeing, sailing)
- First aid and radio communications
- Drill and ceremonial training
- Target shooting and fieldcraft
- Annual camps in the UK and overseas
- BTEC qualifications and leadership training
