Frequently Asked Questions
What happens at a typical training night?
Training nights include drill practice, classroom sessions on aviation and leadership, first aid training, sports, band practice, and more. Each night is different!
Do I have to join the military?
No! The Air Cadets is a youth organization. There's no obligation to join the RAF or any military service, though many cadets do choose this path.
How much does it cost?
There is a small monthly subscription which we keep as low as possible to make it affordable for all families. Your blue uniform is provided free of charge. Some activities and trips may have additional costs, but we work hard to keep everything as affordable as possible.
Can I join if I have no musical experience?
Absolutely! Our squadron band welcomes complete beginners. We provide instruments and instruction - many of our band members started with zero experience.
What if I'm not very fit or sporty?
Don't worry! We have cadets of all fitness levels. We'll help you improve at your own pace, and there are many non-sporting activities too.
